Teaching
The Research Center for Environmental Law’s team plays a major role in teaching environmental law, relevant both in preparation of the Staatsexamen in Law and in the context of the focus field studies in Law. In the federal state of Hamburg, the fundamentals of environmental law are included in the required curriculum for the First Staatsexamen in Law, which is unique in Germany. Furthermore, environmental law and planning law is eligible as a focus field within the Law studies at Universität Hamburg. Supported and complemented by a range of practitioners of law serving as adjunct lecturers, the members of the Research Center for Environmental Law are primarily responsible for teaching the courses of the focus field “Environmental Law and Planning Law”. The numerous graduates of the focus field “Environmental Law and Planning Law” in Hamburg work in nearly all areas relevant to environmental law–ranging from the environmental administrations of Hamburg, Berlin, and Brussels, the administrative jurisdiction, law companies, associations, commercial enterprises, to the European Union and international organizations.
