14. Mai 2022, von Internetredaktion
The Hamburg Lecture Series in Public & Comparative Law continues with a fourth event on "Lack of Gender Diversity in East Asian Arbitration & Motherhood Studies" on May 24 at 4.00 pm CEST.
Some say that female lawyers have many sleepless nights since women lawyers are also in charge of their kids' primary childcare and only nights left to work overtime. Indeed, international arbitration is a very masculine area, where women with small kids have limited opportunities to compete. Building up on this problem, Munkhnaran Munkhtuvshin analyzes how motherhood and cognitive bias at law firms impact the female practitioners' careers in arbitration by conducting eight private interviews with East Asian women arbitrators and twelve surveys among young female practitioners.
Speaker: Munkhnaran Munkhtuvshin, Nagoya University, Japan
Commentator: Prof. Akiko Ejima, Meiji University, Japan
