Grants of up to 10.000 euros for China-EU legal research

The China-EU School of Law is looking for internationally outstanding legal scholars and experts. In this new round of funding, the law school supports PhD candidates with up to 1,000 euros per month and partner research groups with up to 10,000 euros. Applications are now open. Short-term research stays, working groups and publications can be funded. Focus is on Chinese Law, European Law, International Law, Human Rights and International Trade Law, examined in a China-EU comparative approach.
European PhD researchers who plan to carry out research for up to four months in Beijing between September and December 2017 or March and June 2018 can apply for a scholarship. Chinese PhD candidates who are enrolled in a China-EU School of Law or China University of Political Science and Law PhD programme and wish to study for up to six months in Europe can also apply for a scholarship for a research visit at a CESL partner university or associate institution in Europe. The China-EU School of Law offers a monthly grant of 1,000 euros for the duration of the stay and a travel grant of up to 1,000 euros for one return trip.
The China-EU School of Law also funds legal research with at least one Chinese and one European scholar or legal practitioner involved. Research groups can be supported to publish a journal article or a book with up to 10,000 euros. The call is open to researchers who have already taught at the law school or conducted research with CESL’s partners. Travel costs and costs for workshops and conferences can be funded.
