The China-EU School of Law’s Vis Team returned with the “High Quality Award” for its written memorandum from the Seoul Moot in South Korea. Master’s student Meng Fanqing was honoured as the “Best Individual Oralist” of the semifinals. National Seoul University organised the Seoul Moot at 25 and 26 February 2017 as a pre-moot for the Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot 2017 held in Hong Kong from 26 March to 2 April. Eleven teams from Korea, China and Japan competed in Seoul. CESL’s team advanced to the semifinals. Moot courts are competitions for law students in which participants take part in simulated court proceedings, usually involving drafting memoranda and participating in oral argument.
“We took part in this pre-moot for the first time and we were very nicely surprised by the high level of organisation, the professionalism of the arbitrators, as well as the great performance of all teams attending the Seoul Moot”, coach Assistant Professor Monika Prusinowska said. “We will be very happy to come back next year. This was an important milestone in the long process of preparing the team to perform at its best in Hong Kong.”
