The China-EU School of Law supports PhD candidates with up to 1,000 euro per month and partner research groups with up to 10,000 euro.
The Chinese-European law school facilitates research on Chinese Law, European Law, International Law, Human Rights and International Trade Law. Focus is on a comparative approach. More than 135 legal scholars from China and Europe have already received a grant. To further promote this field of research, the China-EU School of Law (CESL) now opens applications for a new round of short-term research stays, working groups and publications.
European PhD researchers who write their dissertations on law and plan to carry out research between September and December can apply for a scholarship. The law school will pay for accommodation in the International Exchange Center and give a grant of up to 1,000 euros for a return flight ticket from the student’s place of residence to Beijing. Chinese PhD candidates who are enrolled in a CESL or China University of Political Science and Law PhD programme and wish to study for up to six months in Europe can also apply for a scholarship for a research visit at a CESL partner university or associate institution in Europe. CESL offers a monthly grant of 1,000 euros for the duration of their stay and a travel grant of up to 1,000 euros for one return trip from Beijing to Europe.
The China-EU School of Law also funds legal research with at least one Chinese and one European scholar involved. Research groups can be supported to publish a journal article or a book with up to 10,000 euros. The call is open to individual researchers who have already taught at the law school or conducted research with CESL’s partners. Travel costs and costs for workshops and conferences organised before December 2017 can be funded.
