For law students with an interest in the Middle Kingdom, on 6 December 2017, 6 to 7 p.m. at the Rechtshaus EG 18/19, the Faculty of Law holds an informational event introducing study programmes in China. Prof. Hinrich Julius, China-EU School of Law Coordinator in Hamburg, will present the study opportunities at Hamburg’s partner universities. Alumna Katherine Romanowski will share her experiences. Students can ask for background information and personal advice.
“With China’s increasing presence in the global economy and in global politics, demand for legal experts with profound knowledge of China is still soaring,” Prof. Hinrich Julius says. “A study abroad experience in China thus is interesting for students who are interested in an adventure today and have a career in an international environment in mind tomorrow.”
These are the study opportunities:
- Master of European and International Law at the China-EU School of Law in Beijing: a one-year programme with an LL.M. degree awarded from Universität Hamburg, Chinese law courses as well as Chinese language courses are available, outstanding law students are supported with a full tuition fee waiver.
- Chinese Law Taught in English at the China-EU School of Law in Beijing: one-semester programme on Chinese law, without tuition fees for all Universität Hamburg students, Chinese language courses also available.
- Universität Hamburg exchange ("Zentralaustausch"), with courses at Fudan University, China East Normal University, Peking University or National Taiwan University
- Exchange semester at the China University of Political Science and Law with a DAAD scholarship
Over the past years, there was a rise in the numbers of students studying in China. The number of German students increased since the first recording of 1300 students in the year 2003 almost six times to 7500 students in the year 2015, the latest figures by the Chinese Ministry of Education report.
