Since September 2017, the China-EU School of Law together with the School of International Education of Beijing Foreign Studies University offers courses in Chinese language and culture to its international students. 17 out of 22 students from the Chinese Law Taught in English programme take part this year. In the “Elementary Chinese” course, the future lawyers from Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland learn to take part in everyday conversations in Chinese and to write their first Chinese characters. In the “Traditional Chinese culture” course, they are introduced to playing the lute and playing chess, to calligraphy, Chinese floral design and poetry as well as to Chinese wine and tea culture. “Students are very committed,” teacher Ma Linlin extolled the class. “They actively contribute to the course, thoroughly do their homework and ask for background information – I am very delighted that they demonstrate such a lively interest in Chinese language and culture.”
