International Cooperation

In addition to the cooperation between these organizations, the students benefit from a network of international partnerns.
Doctoral students will be given the opportunity to spend one semester abroad during the course of their studies. Considering a study period of maximum three years (6 semesters), the semester abroad should ideally be scheduled during the 4th or 5th semester.Graduates of the former Graduate School Programme were able to conduct research at the University of California at Berkeley, Columbia University, London School of Economics, Harvard University and Yale University among others.
Conferences
Four of the programme initiators hold leading positions in the European Association of Law and Economics (EALE). The doctoral students are encouraged to present their research findings at the annual conference of the EALE, which brings together international high-profile researchers in the area of Law and Economics to discuss their most recent research. Furthermore, the German Law and Economics Association offers an annual workshop which is regularly attended by international scholars. Former students of the graduate school have regularly presented at both conferences.
Within reason, the costs of conference stays are covered by the Graduate School.
