Are you curious about studying law? This is good because curiosity and a thirst for knowledge are—alongside self-discipline and logical thinking—important prerequisites for studying law.

Law is a popular degree program and when you choose a field or special training, you will be making an important decision for your future. We have created this information portal for you for this very reason: to help you make an informed decision. You will find a wide range of information here about studying law at Universität Hamburg.

If you have specific questions, academic advising in the Faculty of Law is happy to help.

If you would like to get a general overview of the courses and degrees offered at Universität Hamburg or the Faculty of Law, you are encouraged to participate in the Hamburg University Days. Every mid-November, the individual disciplines at Universität Hamburg offer prospective students the opportunity to learn more firsthand about the range of subjects offered. The Faculty of Law will be present again this year and invites you to attend the information sessions that will take place in the Hamburg Law Building.

You are always welcome at the Faculty of Law, even if you haven’t yet completed your secondary school leaving certificate. On behalf of the entire Faculty, I hope you enjoy looking through the information on this website!

The hows and whys of studying

The lecture series Was wie wofür studieren? informs secondary school students, students in bachelor’s degree programs, and other prospective students about the degree programs at Universität Hamburg.

Discovery program

The Faculty of Law at Universität Hamburg invites interested upper-level students to participate in a two-day discovery program. During these two days, participants gain in-depth insight into the courses and opportunities associated with obtaining a degree in law.

University Days

On 23 February 2016, Universität Hamburg once again introduced itself to 11th, 12th, and 13th grade students from Hamburg’s secondary schools. This event also targets secondary school students from the surrounding areas of Hamburg and all other prospective students.
