- July 1989: Habilitation and awarding of the venia legendi for civil law, trade and commercial law, industrial property law, copyright and media law by the University of Kiel

- Winter Semester 1989/90: Stand-in professor (C4) for civil law at Freie Universität Berlin; lecturer at the University of Heidelberg
