Seminar announcement for Summer semester 2023
In the coming Summer semester you will have the opportunity to put the theoretical knowledge you have learned in the lecture directly into practice at the Federal Supreme Court in a seminar organised by Professor Poelzig! Together with Volker Sander, judge at the II. Civil Panel of the BGH (Bundesgerichthof, the German Federal Court of Justice) the chair of Prof. Poelzig organises a "mini-moot court" on a current case of the BGH from the field of Takeover Law (Securities and Capital Market Law).
Based on the original case file, the appeal briefs will be prepared in small groups in April. Then, in mid-May, the oral proceedings will be simulated in a mini-moot court, which will take place at UHH. At the end of May the seminar concludes with a field trip to Karlsruhe, financially supported by the Hamburg Universit: there the participants will attend the actual oral proceedings of the BGH on the case they worked on. The seminar offers a special opportunity to exchange ideas with Mr. Sander and employees of the BGH, who can provide valuable insights into the procedures of the highest civil court. A seminar certificate - as per PromO regulations - can be obtained; the preparation of an SPB essay is not possible.
Further information on the seminar programme can be found in the attached poster. If you are interested, please register by e-mail with Ms Roberta Porchietto (roberta.porchietto@uni-hamburg.de) by 26th February for the (digital) preliminary meeting scheduled on 1st March, 6:15pm.
