Mission statement committee
1. Faculty day
After the University developed an overarching mission statement, our Faculty decided in June 2012 to formulate its own mission statement focusing on the requirements of studying law at Universität Hamburg. To this end, a committee was formed. Its first task was to conduct a large-scale survey of the Faculty's members to obtain an overview of their opinions. More than 600 people took part in the survey, attesting to the great interest in this topic. The results of the survey can be found in the current issue of Hamburger Rechtsnotizen (law journal published in the Faculty of Law). However, this is only a first step towards our goal of achieving “vertical” participation. On 6 November, five workshops will take place in which we invite all interested members of the Faculty to consider specific propositions that can serve as the basis of the mission statement. In addition, we will discuss the procedure for developing our mission statement.
The lecture by Prof. Dr. Dr. mult h. c. Michael Stolleis “Gesucht: Ein Leitbild für die Juristenausbildung” (Wanted: A Mission Statement for Law Education) will serve as an introduction to the subsequent workshops.
