German-Brazilian-Network
Prof. Dr. Marion Albers is a member of the German-Brazilian network, which aims at connecting German and Brazilian universities closer in the upcoming years.
Since 2014 several international workshops took place in Porto Alegre, Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro and Hamburg. They have dealt, among other topics, with privacy or personality rights on the internet, freedom of the media, the role of intermediaries, internet regulation or freedom of and access to information.
Besides, over the next years a project with the title ”internet regulation and internet rights" will be realized. This project is funded by CAPES and DAAD. Besides Prof. Dr. Marion Albers, inter alia Prof. Dr. Ingo Sarlet, Prof. Dr. Markus Kotzur, Prof. Dr. Lothar Michael, Prof. Dr. Draiton Gonzaga des Souza and Prof. Dr. Giovani Agostini Saavedra will participate in this project.
In 2017, a joint "Centre for German and European Studies" has been institutionalized at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre (UFRGS) and Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre (PUCRS); it is based at PUCRS. Director is Prof. Claudia Lima Marques (UFRGS), Co-Director is Prof. Dr. Draiton Gonzaga de Souza. The Centre will collaborate with the chair of Prof. Dr. Albers.
The network plans more activities in the future, for instance research projects, workshops and an international summer school.
