Lecture byMs. Dr. Roda Verheyen: Das Recht auf Klimaschutz: Vom BVerfG zum Urteil des EGMR "Klimaseniorinnen" (The right to climate protection: From the Federal Constitutional Court to the ECHR judgement "Climate Seniors")
25 September 2024, by Elisabeth Kahnert
In its judgment of April 9, 2024, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) found that inadequate climate protection violates the human rights of Swiss “climate seniors”. But what exactly did the ECHR decide and how will the judgement affect other climate lawsuits in Germany, Europe and around the world?
The Gesellschaft Hamburger Juristen is delighted that Dr. Roda Verheyen will be speaking on the topic of “The right to climate protection: from the Federal Constitutional Court to the ECHR's judgement ‘climate seniors’”. Dr. Verheyen is a renowned expert in the field of climate protection and environmental law and a member of the Hamburg Constitutional Court. Dr. Verheyen will offer us a deep insight into these complex legal issues and help us to better understand current developments. As a long-time practitioner in the field of environmental law, she has extensive experience and expertise that she will share with us.
The event is not only aimed at those practicing law, but will be of interest to anyone involved in environmental and climate protection. It will be an opportunity to find out about the latest developments and then - as always at GHJ events - to exchange ideas over a glass of wine.
The event will take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 18:00. The venue is the plenary hall of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court of Hamburg on Sievekingplatz. Registration is not required.
We look forward to a lively participation!
Please note that the event will take place in German.
