The Florence School of Banking & Finance will host a webinar on "Artificial Intelligence and Systemic Risk", on Thursday, October 24, from 13:00 to 14:00, with Jón Daníelsson, Director of the ESRC funded Systemic Risk Centre at the London School of Economics.
Professor Daníelsson will discuss possible consequences of Artificial Intelligence take over of core market functions due to cost their savings and operational efficiencies, assisting both risk managers and microprudential authorities. However, with such positioning, AI might have the potential to destabilise the financial system, creating new tail risks and amplifying existing ones due to procyclicality, endogenous complexity, optimisations against the system and the need to trust the AI engine.
The "Law, Finance, and Technology" program will exhibit the event in Seminarraum 205 at the Institute of Law & Economics, Johnsallee 35. The exhibition will be followed by a brief discussion on emerging policy concerns.
