SMU Roundtable on AI in the Financial Sector

Last November 1st, 2019, at the Singapore Management University, School of Law, Research Associate Alessio Azzutti presented the first findings of his study on AI and market abuse. Among other themes, covered topics have encompassed the adequacy of existing market abuse regulation to meet the goals of market integrity, the need for a proper governance framework for “Robo-traders” in view of their technological specificities, the possible adoption of RegTech and SupTech solutions as policy measures to strengthen the EU supervisory system and strategy, as well as the critical issues about the enforcement mechanisms of market abuse regulations in presence of autonomous systems like AI.
